Weston Bend State Park Meet Report

Course Setter: Reta Roe

Despite a sudden downturn in temperature, and a weather report that called for light rain or snow, we had a partially sunny and dry day at Weston Bend State Park.  We haven't had an event here in quite a few years, and many of the 56 participants had not been to this park.

Trails were very muddy in places because of the melting snow and frost upheaval, but many of the participants commented on the beauty of the park, especially by the bluffs overlooking the river.  They also commented on lots of steep hills and valleys, and several adventure racers commented that this was a really good course for their training.

Park personnel were extremely helpful in furnishing electricity, and loaning us tables and chairs.  Thanks to Matt Carletti and his crew.

Also many thanks to our PTOC volunteers.  Paul Clatterbuck for general logistics, setup and takedown, and control pickup.  Nick Hockman, who always furnishes great snacks, and does registration and control pickup.  Also helping with control pickup:  Mike Shifman, Dick Luckerman, and Dan Welch.
