Powderhorn Training
(Leader training for Boy Scout Venture Crews)
Camp Naish, Bonner Springs, KS
August 17, 2008

Submitted by Dick Neuburger

On Sunday, August 17, 2008, Dick Neuburger, Dick Luckerman, Dan Welch, and Reta Roe conducted four 1 1/2-hour sessions teaching the basics of Map and Compass to about 30 Venture Scout leaders at Camp Naish near Bonner Springs, KS. There was about 30 minutes of basic orienteering instruction followed by a 30-minute Score O. The students all returned safely and just a few were a couple minutes late. Point values varied from 10 to 40 and there was a 10-point penalty for each minute late. The weather was beautiful, especially in the morning, and the students were very enthusiastic. We hope they learned a lot and that we will see them at future Possum Trot O Club events.

Thank you, Dick, Dan, and Reta for all of your help today!
