Possum Trot X Meet Notes

- 5-minute pre-race briefing at start area at 8:45
a.m. There will be enough time
after the briefing to take off your warm-ups.
- Mass start at 9:00 a.m. 5-hour time limit.
- Approximately 14-km course with 1 map
exchange. May skip one control per
map. Map #1 distance about 6 km;
map #2 distance about 8 km.
- Cutoff time: Map exchange will be closed at 12:00
noon. If you have not completed the
first map by 12:00 noon, you will not be allowed to continue.
- Safety bearing is NORTH.
- 2 refreshment stops: Stop #1 at map exchange
(just south of start). Stop #2 is
common to legs 4-5 (map #1), and legs 20-21 and 25-26 on map #2. Gatorade, water, pretzels, and cookies
will be available. We will deliver
your personal refreshments to the refreshment stops.
- Map scale: 1:10,000, contours 3 meters
- Vegetation is not as thick as mapped. Visibility is good.
- There are some unmapped ruined fences and some
unmapped horse trails in open areas.
- Do not damage fences. Most may be crawled under.
- Some paths and streambeds are rocky and difficult
to see due to leave covering…watch your footing.
- The two mapped properties are private
property. Please respect the other
users of the camps. Watch for traffic
on the roads.
- Have your control punch card ready for collection
at the finish. You will be provided
a new set of maps (both loops) at the finish.
