Shawnee Mission Park
A TRIM (permanent) orienteering course with 72 checkpoints is open year round at Shawnee Mission Park. You may obtain informational packets for $4.00 (including tax) each at Ernie Miller Park, Olathe, and at the Visitor Center, Shawnee Mission Park. The packet includes a 5-color orienteering map of the park which shows the control locations, a page showing the control descriptions and course notes, and an instructional pamphlet. Extra maps are available for purchase, also.
You can look for any or all of the locations, whenever you wish. Youth groups or individuals can set up friendly competitions for themselves. The TRIM course can be used to fulfill Scout orienteering rank and merit badge requirements.

Ernie Miller Nature Park
A smaller TRIM course for beginners and map hikers is available at Ernie Miller Park. It is free, but the color map is purchased separately for $2.00 (including tax).
